I am pleased that my photographs have won national awards and appeared in national publications and venues from local Maryland galleries to the Smithsonian Institution.
The Smithsonian's Museum of Natural History is currently airing a "photographer in the field" video with an interview of me and several others on loop monitors in its Nature's Best Photography exhibition.
My "Vertical Oxbows" photograph was highly honored in the Windland Rice Smith 2007 International Awards at the Smithsonian.
A photograph I call "Claws in Prey" also won honors in the 2006 Windland Rice Smith 2006 International Awards, and my "Smiling Kung-fu" photo of a playful brown bear took first place in the Mammal Division of the National Wildlife Federation's 36th annual photo contest.
Nature's Best Photography Magazine honored me as "photographer in the field" by incorporating two of my images - "My Family" and "Claws in Prey" - in its 2005 photography exhibit in the Smithsonian Institution.
In 2004, my vision of a bear playing on its back ("Sharon's Bear") took top honors in the National Wildlife Federation's 34th annual photo contest.
In addition, my work has appeared in Wyoming Wildlife Magazine and The Nature Conservancy's Magazines "The Nature Conservancy in Wyoming" and "The Nature Conservancy in South Dakota and Wyoming." My photographs have been used to support various articles that support their mission and as the cover of their Fall/Winter 2003 issue.
I was featured in The Alaska Airlines Magazine, "Horizon" in its May 2003 issue and in the National Wildlife Federation's Magazine "National Wildlife" in their December/January 2005 issue.
